Seva Education Twickenham

Seva Education Twickenham

At our Twickenham site we provide education for students from the age of 7 to 16 years (Key Stages 2 to 4). Our classes are led by qualified teachers supported by teaching assistants. There are usually between 8 and 10 students in a class, arranged by age and needs with levels of support dependent on individual needs.

The curriculum is broad and balanced and supports both the academic and social, emotional and mental health needs of all learners. The full range of national curriculum subjects are offered, differentiated or adapted to meet the needs of all learners. An emphasis is placed on developing the literacy and mathematical skills that students will need to be successful in later life and so these subjects are taught daily. Students are placed on one of three pathways, some will follow a more formal curriculum that leads to qualifications whilst others will work on the Equals Semi-Formal Curriculum with more of an emphasis on acquiring relevant life skills.

Social and emotional skills are taught explicitly by staff using programmes such as Zones of Regulation, Talkabout and LEANS (Learning about neuro diversity in school). These schemes help individuals to develop the skills that will allow them to be successful in the wider community.

At Seva we try to encourage students to maintain a healthy lifestyle and develop their wellbeing. PE is taught weekly as are swimming lessons at a local pool. The chance to cultivate and grow plants is available on our own allotments and we also have our own Forest School.
